Ms. Jolene Masek, IT Design, Visual Arts, SkillsUSA Advisor
Ms. Jolene Masek earned her BFA at the University of Wisconsin Stout with a concentration in graphic design and has worked as a graphic designer since 1989. Some of her clients include Warner Bros, Disney, Charles Schultz, Universal Studios and professional sports teams. Ms. Masek received her teaching certificate at Colorado State University, Pueblo and has been teaching since 1999. She is certified in K-12 Art, CTE Visual Art & Design, and Elementary Education. She is an Adobe Certified Professional in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Dreamweaver and has earned Adobe Professional status in Visual and Web Design. Ms. Masek joined the K12 team in 2002 and has been teaching at Destinations Career Academy since 2017.
Mr. Galen Harkness,
HS Business/Marketing, FBLA Advisor
Helping people become their best has been a passion of mine all my life. As a Business teacher at CODCA Mr. Harkness has an opportunity to combine his real-life business experience with the academic opportunities of the business classes to help students take a deeper look into the possibilities. The classes of Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Accounting, Microsoft Office, and Intro to Business give the students a wide range of options to start their interest in business or build upon what they already know about business. Mr. Harkness has ran, operated, and lead a successful business for the past 10 years and wants to share the ups and downs of managing all of that through the business courses at CODCA.
Ms. Beth Vasquez, HS Social Studies, HOSA/Law Enforcement
Ms. Vasquez has been teaching for the past twenty years. She is currently the lead teacher in the Education and Training and Criminal Justice and Community Service Pathways. She also serves as co-advisor for HOSA. Her bachelor's degree is in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Secondary Education. She is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Criminology. Ms. Vasquez CTE certified in Education. Her passion is building relationships with her students and helping them pursue their future goals and dreams. Ms. Vasquez loves tacos, traveling, hiking 14ers and cheering for the Denver Nuggets.
Sra. Margaret Farnik, Asesora STEM / IT
I was born in Fort Collins, CO in 1960. I graduated from Rocky Mtn. HS (Ft. Collins) in 1979, and from CSU with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1983. In 1980’s I designed computers in Boulder. I designed the hardware for the first integrated voice-data network (now VOIP.) I also designed the architecture and hardware for the first parallel processor computer.
I married my husband, Jeff, in 1985. In 1987, I retired from engineering, and moved to the family farm near New Raymer, CO. I have a son, Mark, (1989) and a daughter, Jamie (1991).
I went back to work in 1995 for Prairie School District as their district Technology Coordinator. I started teaching computer classes there. I started working for Fort Morgan School District in 2000. I taught computer classes, middle and high school math. I began teaching at online at Destinations (then Insight) in 2008 when the school opened, and have been teaching here ever since. My daughter Jamie graduated from Insight (now Destinations) in 2010.
I currently teach High School Engineering classes, and Middle School Coding, Photography, and Career Explorations. I like sharing my various career experiences with my students as they prepare for their eventual careers.
Interesting Facts:
I have a kidney transplant (2001.) I’m also on oxygen after spinal surgery to repair damage from a car accident. I’m a Geek and a Nerd, and proud of it! I also love cats, and have a bunch of them on our farm.

I love Science Fiction, Fantasy, and books, tv shows and movies like Star Trek, Babylon 5, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Anne McCaffrey’s Dragon book series, and Tamora Pierce’s fantasy novels.

My undergraduate and Master’s degree are in Exercise Physiology. I also have a Master in Education. There is so much to learn about the human body and it fascinates me. My favorite thing is when students come to class with fascinating questions that we have to work together to research and learn more about. My students never fail to amaze me, that is what I love about my job!
Charity Smith is an enthusiastic educator who has experience as a teacher in large schools, small classrooms, online courses, and blended learning classes in grades 7 through college. She has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Arts in Mathematics Education. She teachers mathematics, computer science, and career explorations courses. Mrs. Smith has a passion for mathematics, technology, reading, writing, and puzzles. She is a Colorado native who loves to camp, hike, and travel with her family.
Mrs. Shari Bossmann is the CODCA Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy Instructor, as well as, the Nursing Assistant Program Coordinator and Instructor. I have been a Registered Nurse for over 14 years graduating from Lincoln Land Community College. I have also been an American Heart Association Certified CPR Instructor since 2018. I obtained my CTE certification in Health Sciences from the Colorado Department of Education in 2020. My passion is educating students to care for people as if they were their own family with hands-on curriculum in the CODCA Skills Lab.

Biology Degree from University of Southern Colorado. Endorsements in 7-12 Science and Agriculture. Taught online since 2002. Taught with Destinations since it opened. Teach Biology, Animal Production A, B, and C, Health.
Sra. Rachel Murphy, HS ELA
On my professional side I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Oklahoma State University and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. I’ve worked in education since 1999 when I started as an elementary school librarian. From there I taught middle school Language Arts and Literature and high school summer school English in the traditional classroom setting for four years. In 2005 I began teaching online middle school and high school English classes. I have also taught introductory research writing class for The University of Phoenix. I love being part of this innovative alternative learning experience. Personally, I reside in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with my husband and two children. Our family also includes 3 crazy dogs and 1 fat cat. I love to spend time at the lake with my family, read, hike, and cook.

Hi! My name is Denise Dutton, and I am the Special Programs Administrator/Dean of Students here at CODCA! I work closely with Special Education, 504, ELL, and GT teachers and students. I also work with all staff to provide support for struggling students. I love a challenge, and when I have a few minutes of free time, I am playing Wordle or Waffle (look it up!). This is my 22nd year in education, and I feel like each year I continue to grow as a student and teacher!

My name is Jen Hoerning and I am the Learning Specialist and IEP Case Manager for Grades 10-12. This is my 4th year with CODCA and I absolutely love my job! I am originally from Chicago, Illinois (Go Cubs!) and love to spend my free time outdoors, gardening, reading, or crafting. You may see me helping out in some of your classes – I’m here to help everyone! Please feel free to reach out with any questions and I’ll do my best to answer them or find someone who can! Jorge Gonzalez is a high school Social Studies teacher for Colorado Destination Career Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His goals have always been to inspire students to be the best versions of themselves and to help student achieve academic success through social sciences and academic engagement. He also aspires to grow in the field of education and become an administrator. Some of his most important achievements are completing his masters in secondary education from the University of New Mexico and completing his second master’s in educational leadership from Western Governors University. Jorge is currently enrolled in Strides GROW program and is looking forward to new opportunities in the future.
Mr. Hunter Stafford earned his BA in Social Studies Education from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Psychology. He has been teaching high school social studies classes at CODCA since 2020 and this school year is also teaching an Outdoor Leadership class where students go backpacking, winter camping, rafting, and earn outdoor certifications. Before teaching at CODCA Mr. Hunter worked on rivers in Utah taking students rafting, taught avalanche courses in Lake Tahoe, California, and traveled and taught social studies in Panama and Costa Rica. In his classes, he focuses on building relationships with his students and thinking critically about the world and its past. In his free time, Mr. Hunter loves to travel, read, backcountry snowboard, hang outside, and spend lots of quality time with friends and family.

Ms. Guerra is one of our math and science teachers at CODCA. She is a genuine teacher who loves teaching students and watching them learn and fill with wonder. Ms. Guerra loves animals and teachers her students to respect these living beings, as they are special, intelligent and fragile. Ms. Guerra lives in a refurbished school bus within a reptile park in southwest Colorado.
Mrs. Williams is a HS math teacher who teaches Geometry and Algebra II at CODCA. She enjoys her students and working with each one. A few of her favorite things outside of the classroom are spending time with her husband and four children. They love camping, boating, watching The Goldbergs, listening to 80s Rock and completing DIY projects.

HS Counselor L-Z: I have been a school counselor since 2007. This will be my 10th year as an online counselor working with K12 Stride schools. I enjoy working online as I get to connect with my students on a one-on-one personal level. Graduation is my favorite time of the year as I get to meet my seniors face to face and have the opportunity to honor them. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year.

Jennifer Colestock, originally from the Seattle area, is excited to be back at CODCA this year teaching all levels of Spanish at both the middle and high school. When she isn’t working hard with all of you, she enjoys staying active – you may find her on the trails or on her mat, often with her best furry friend. She also enjoys (or did before COVID!) traveling, movies, and finding fun places to drink too much coffee and catch up with her friends and family!

Mrs. Teri Cady is honored to be the Head of School for Destinations Career Academy of Colorado (Destinations), and she has served in this position since August of 2016. She has been in education for over 20 years as a Science Teacher, a High School Principal, and as Head of School for Destinations. Mrs. Cady is passionate about helping students to explore their opportunities in and out of school, realize their extraordinary potential, and help prepare them for success in college and career. Mrs. Cady strongly believes that our students are our most important investment for the future of our world. She enjoys very much working with the talented and inspiring staff, and with the amazing students at Destinations. Mrs. Cady also finds great pleasure in trail running, biking, and skiing in our beautiful Colorado mountains.

Mrs. Schriner is the principal at Destinations. Mrs. Schriner has her MA in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Colorado, Denver and her BA in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University-Hawaii. This is her 8th year as an administrator at the school and she keeps coming back because she LOVES it here. She has a deep passion for post-secondary readiness and feels that the Stride Career Prep pathways that are offered are an integral part of the school's success.

At Destinations, Adelita Shepherd enjoys seeing students engage and learn through meaningful curriculum, taught by purposeful teams of teachers. Mrs. Shepherd enjoys seeing students grow academically as well as socially via our CTE pathways and many socialization opportunities offered throughout the school year. Mrs. Shepherd is grateful to be part of a team that cares so deeply for students’ success and overall achievement. She recently earned an MS in Business, specializing in Acquisition and Supply Chain Management from the University of Maryland.

Mrs. Breeann Gibbons is the Career and Technical (CTE) Administrator at Destinations Career Academy. This will be her first year at CODCA and she is thrilled to call this school her new home! Before transitioning to this role, she has worked as a school counselor at the high school, middle school, and elementary levels. She loves having the opportunity to work with young people and make a difference in their lives. She is passionate about helping students discover themselves, inspiring them to do their personal best in life, and preparing them for the years beyond. She strongly believes in the CTE pathways that Destinations offers, and trusts that our students can look forward to boundless opportunities in their future!
